Catbun Guide for Go Go Muffin
Last updated: 20/1/2025
The Cat Bun Bakery (or Cat Bun shortened) is a progression system unlocked after Class Changing (CC2), when clearing Main Story level 30-2. This new system introduces Cat Buns, equippable (and adorable) cats that provide stats and special effects to the player character.
This system combines many aspects of previous progression systems (Mounts and Pets) which we’ll be drawing parallels to help familiarize the player. This guide will go in depth on The Bakery, The Cat Buns, and our recommendations to what players should aim for at certain steps in progression.
General Note:The Bakery is the main way of obtaining Cat Buns, and is an important aspect of the Cat Bun system. The Bakery can be leveled, and unlocks various upgrades.
The level of the bakery affects 5 main aspects.
The Bakery is upgraded when the player hits two specific metrics.
The metrics tracked are reaching a certain total number of levels
with equipped Cat Buns, and the amount of times the player has
“heated the oven” (baked). When these reach a specified amount, the
Bakery has the option to be upgraded.
Due to the reasons above, we recommend leveling Cat Buns evenly and buying
cat wood at least 4x a day. The player wants to bake as much as possible,
particularly focusing on leveling up until bakery level 7. This level
is important as it unlocks key features that provide the ability to start
creating the long term Cat Buns.
Namely:
The Oven is the main source of cat buns and their subsequent materials. To obtain Cat Buns and materials, Cat Wood is used in the oven. Cat Wood can be obtained daily by claiming them in the Oven Menu. 300 Cat Wood is available for claim daily. Fruitwood can also be obtained through the resource menu using Stellarite, and sometimes through special events.
The Cat Team Menu is where the player can equip their cat buns. The
player can initially equip 1 Cat Bun, up to a max of 4 Cat Buns when
reaching level 7 bakery.
A Cat Team consists of 1 Main Cat and 3 Sub Cats. The main discerning
factor between the two lies on their main skill. Only the main cat’s
skill is active. Otherwise, the main cat and sub cats are identical in
the stats, flavors, and bonds they provide.
When Cat Buns are leveled, rather than the cat itself, the slot is leveled.
This lets the player swap their Cat Buns at any time without fear of
losing resources, similar to gear/mount slots. These Cat slots are upgraded
using Cat Sugar and Cat Butter. These materials are obtained when using
Cat Wood in the Oven.
Unlocked by reaching bakery level 7, this feature unlocks a crucial
milestone in the players' progression. This feature allows the
player to combine their generation 3 Cat Buns, allowing them to
obtain powerful Cat Buns that provide special effects and massive
stat gains. This marks the start of the player's journey into
crafting and baking their perfect Cat Bun Team.
Combining any rarity Generation 3 Cat Buns have a base success rate of
20%. This changes when combining 2 SSR Generation 3 Cat Buns, additionally
increasing the chance to combine by 20%, totalling to a 40% chance. The
player can attempt 3 combinations daily. These attempts can be stored
up to 15 times.
Successful combinations grant the player an SP (Special) edition cat
with increased stats and better skills. The combination also grants 2
Legendary Yeast, a cat bun material.
Upon Failure, the player is granted 2 Legendary Yeast and 1 random item,
ranging from basic yeast to Cat Wood.
There exists a special item that can be bought or obtained through events,
called a Golden Seal. This Golden Seal allows the player to guarantee
a successful combination, no matter the rarity of Cat Buns used.
A Cat Bun can be broken down into four constituent Parts. The Catbun’s Generation, The Bun Type, Its Rarity, and The Flavor Traits (Parts).
The Generation (also known as Gen) affects the Type of Cats the player can obtain. The Gen also affects a Cat’s Base stats, and their stat scaling. The higher the generation, the better its stats.
The Type of Cat Bun affects what skill it will have. Only one skill can be active at a time. At SP Generation 3 and above, these skills can be upgraded by using a copy of the Cat Bun, increasing its skill (evaluation) level.
For the most part, the relevance of rarity can be broken down in 2 phases, Pre-Gen 3 Cat Buns and Post-Gen 3 Cat Buns. Pre-Generation 3 Cat Buns, the rarity affects the minimum amount of Epic flavor parts it contains.
Rarity | Minimum amount of Epic Flavor parts |
---|---|
N | 0 |
R | 1 |
SR | 2 |
SSR | 3 |
Post-Generation 3 Cat Buns, rarity is referred to when combining Cat
Buns. When combining SSR rarity Cat Buns, the chance for success
increases dramatically.
SP (Special) Edition Cats are marked as UR, and all of their Flavor Parts
are by default Legendary.
The Flavor System can be confusing when encountered for the first time. Here we will break down the system into 3 parts. (Flavor) Parts, (Flavor) Traits, (Flavor) Bonds.
All Cat Buns have 3 parts. The head, shell, and tail. All of these parts provide stats. There are two types of stats they provide. The main stat, and the substats. The mainstat are static and the substats can vary based on the part’s rarity and type. These Flavor Parts can be upgraded, increasing the main and substats.
Part | Main Stat |
---|---|
Head | HP |
Shell | ATK |
Tail | Defense |
These parts can vary in rarity. The rarity affects the base stats,
its stat scaling, the upgrade limit, and the amount of obtainable
Flavor traits. The higher the rarity, the better the stats, and the
higher the level cap of the part.
For example, A green part has a base stat of 20 attack and can be upgraded
10 times, while a purple part has a base stat of 36 attack and can be
upgraded 20 times.
Each part contains an innate set of flavor traits. The amount of
flavor traits a part has corresponds to its rarity. These traits can
be activated by upgrading the part. At the base level (1), one
flavor trait is active. Subsequent traits are activated every 5
levels (5, 10, 15, 20).
The three parts (head, shell, and tail) all have their own unique traits.
There are 6-7 unique traits for each part type and are randomly distributed
across all cat buns you receive.
All Head parts contain red traits. All Shell
parts contain blue traits. All Tail parts
contain green traits.
With 4 or more of one unique trait, a flavor bond forms, providing massive
stat bonuses and special effects.
Flavor bonds give bonus stats and special effects based on the
amount of traits active.
4 total flavor traits (same type) = level 1
flavor bond 8 total flavor traits = level 2 flavor bond
Flavor Bonds have a limit of 5 levels, and can be achieved by having
20 of the same trait. All bonds and their bonuses can be seen at Flavour Recipe.
Conclusion
When flavor parts are upgraded, 3 things occur.
4 flavor traits of the same type activate a flavor bond. Every 4
subsequent traits of that type upgrades the flavor bond.
These Flavor parts can be upgraded using materials. There are two materials
used for upgrades and are obtained from two sources. The Flour, obtained
by burning Fruitwood, and Yeast, obtained by fermenting (Dismantling)
Cat Buns.
These materials can be refunded at any time, so do not be afraid of experimenting.
As Cat Buns have a lot of moving parts (and RNG), getting the ideal Cat Buns will take time. Below are guidelines the player can follow to ensure smooth progression while working towards ideal Cat Bun combinations..
During this phase, important aspects such as having the Combination
Feature and Generation 3 Cat Buns bakeable are locked behind bakery
levels, both unlocked at level 7.
At this phase, we recommend using the highest rarity Generation 2 Cat
Buns the player currently has. Gen 2 Cat Buns have a higher base stat
compared to lower Gen Cat Buns.
We recommend buying Cat Wood 4x a day minimum until bakery level 7 is
reached.
This is where the journey starts, as hitting level 7 Bakery unlocks
two important aspects to long-term progression ; Generation 3 Cat
Buns and the Combination feature.
Once the Bakery is upgraded to Level 7, Generation 3 Cat Buns become
bakeable in the oven. These Generation 3 Cat Buns can then be combined
for a chance to obtain SP Generation 3 Cat Buns.
The goal during this phase is to obtain any 4 SP Generation 3 Cats. These
SP Generation 3 Cats provide massive stat bonuses (compared to previous
options). Equipping these cats provide better bonuses compared to keeping
any previous Flavor Bonds active, and should therefore be prioritized.
We recommend leveling these cats and their parts evenly, focusing on
getting 10/10/10 (Head, Shell, Tail) on all cats for the stat increase.
During this phase, we will be looking at viable Cat Bun types and
our recommendations based on class.
Note:The in-game description has some mistranslation for SP Pink
Cheese and SP Waffle Cheese, below is our finding after testing. SP Pink Cheese Cat Bun
DPS and Tanks are recommended to use the SP Pink Cheese Cat as their
main skill. This Cat Bun permanently increases accuracy
by 2.5% and DMG by 5%. The buff has a 50% chance of doubling the stat
increase, going up to increasing Accuracy by 5% and DMG by 10%, triggered
every 10s (The doubled stats last 10s)
This Cat Bun shines the higher its copy level (Evaluation) becomes, starting
to shine on Evaluation Blue 2, and becomes a permanent fixture for DPS
on evaluation purple 4.
SP Waffle Cheese Cat Bun
Healers are recommended to use the SP Waffle Cheese Cat as their main
skill. This Cat Bun increases the user's base attack by 15% unconditionally. This Cat Bun also provides 3% ATK for every minute the player targets the same enemy up to 4 times (12%
ATK max bonus). Additionally the buff also provides 4% defense shred
at 3 stacks and beyond. The bonuses are reset whenever the player targets
another enemy or body part, regardless of intent.
This Cat Bun is perfect in long fights such as Dragon Bounty or Echoes
of War, as the player only targets 1 enemy throughout the entire fight.
The other options
SP Kuka Cheese Cat Bun
Outside of being used as a temporary measure when other cat buns are
not available, this Cat Bun is not recommended for use. This Cat Bun
increases the player’s attack by 3% every 10s. This bonus can stack up
to the amount of players in the party, with a max bonus of 18% (6 players,
60s). Additionally, at 4 stacks and above this cat bun provides a 2%
mastery increase.
This Cat Bun is a decent generalist option in long form content such
as Waves of Horror or Dragon Bounty, and content that requires 6 people
such as Echoes of War. This Cat Bun can serve as a filler while looking
for other cat buns.
SP Green Tea Cheese Cat Bun
While this Cat Bun looks amazing for Waves of Horror at first glance,
this Cat Bun has a glaring design flaw. For every 4 enemies eliminated,
this Cat Bun increases the player’s attack by 3% for the next 25s. This
bonus can stack up to 6 times up to 18% ATK (at 24 enemies eliminated).
Additionally while fighting a boss, it increases the player’s attack
by 4%.
This Cat Bun is theoretically the best for Waves of Horror at max stacks,
but fails to achieve that due to strict activation conditions. Enemies
gain increased stats and HP throughout the fight, leading to higher TTK
(Time to Kill). The more difficult the WoH, the harder it is to keep
stacks up. This makes it extremely counter intuitive and is ineffective
outside of WoH stages the player would normally be able to clear with
other Cat Bun options.
This phase focuses on outlining guidelines and combinations to work
towards while the player is building their Cat Bun collection. This
guide assumes the player has obtained 4 SP cats and have leveled all
parts to 10/10/10.
During this part of progression, our focus will be recommending Flavor
Bonds, divided in two sections. One for DPS + Healer, and one for Tanks.
We will be working with the (Red Number /
Blue Number/ Green Number) format to represent Flavor Bond Levels, with their color indicating
the part of the body. Red = Head, Blue = Shell, Green = Tail
Example:
0 / 2 2 / 3
No Red (Head) Bond
2 level 2 Blue (Shell) Bonds
1 Level 3 Green (Tail) Bond
Goal | Breakdown | Head | Shell | Tail |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 0 / 2 / 0 | - | Any | - |
2 | 0 / 2 2 / 0 | - | Any | - |
3 | 3 / 2 2 / 0 or 0 / 2 2 / 3 | Serene or Lively (Cute - Healer) | Any | Any |
4 | 3 / 2 2 / 3 | Serene or Lively (Cute - Healer) | Any | Any |
5 | 3 / 5 / 3 | Serene or Lively (Cute - Healer) | Any | Any |
6 | 5 / 5 / 3 | Serene or Lively (Cute - Healer) | Any | Any |
7 | 5 / 5 / 5 | Serene or Lively (Cute - Healer) | Any | Any |
Notes and Explanations
Goal 1 and 2
Activating the Blue Level 2 Flavor Bond provides large bonuses to ATK
for bigger damage/healing.
Goal 3
Level 3 Red Flavor Bond Provides a large DMG% increase for DPS, and a
decent atk% boost for healers.Level 3 Green Flavor Bond Provides an accuracy
and atk% boost.
Run whichever is obtained first.
Goal 5
Although the Level 5 Blue Flavor Bond does not provide a massive boost
to dps, leveling the all shell parts to max increases atk% massively
and sets up the Level 5 Red Flavor Bond with a [Blessing of the Cat God].
Goal 7
As elements change at the start of every CC, it’s unrealistic to have
proper Elemental Combinations within a given timeframe. Therefore we
recommend sticking to any 5/5/5 combination once the player comes across
it.
Goal | Breakdown | Head | Shell | Tail |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 0 / 0 / 2 | - | - | Any |
2 | 0 / 0 / 2 2 | - | - | Any |
3 | 0 / 3 / 2 2 | - | Strong > Solid | Any |
4 | 3 / 3 / 2 2 | Cute | Strong > Solid | Any |
5 | 3 / 5 / 2 2 | Cute | Strong > Solid | Any |
6 | 3 / 5 / 5 | Cute | Strong > Solid | Any |
7 | 5 / 5 / 5 | Cute | Strong > Solid | Any |
Notes and Explanations
Goal 1 and 2
Activating the Green Level 2 Flavor Bond provides large bonuses to Defense
for better survivability.
Goal 3
Stats from Flavor Bonds bypasses natural stat caps. This makes Strong
much better than Solid as it bypasses endurance rather than tenacity.
Both are viable options.
Goal 4
Cute is the only Red Flavor Bond that provides defensive stats, making
Cute the de facto choice.
Goal 5
The Level 5 Blue Flavor Bond provides an increase in damage reduction
per stack of [Blessing of the Cat God] , while also providing the blessing.
Goal 6
The Level 6 Green Flavor Bond provides another stack of stack of [Blessing
of the Cat God] , which result in additional damage reduction.
